SHINE x Josh Cribbs x Miles Park Elementary

S.H.I.N.E. Girlz and S.H.I.N.E. Brothers is a mentoring program that takes course over one school year in selected schools. Danita Harris is director of the girls and Josh Cribbs is the director of the boys. We can accommodate 25 girls and 25 boys per setting and offer sessions on a weekly basis. Our target demographic is 4th-8th grade students. Sessions are 50 minutes to one hour depending on school/setting schedule.

All curriculums are designed to meet the needs of the students we serve. S.H.I.N.E. mentoring sessions provide the following for our students:

We also drive home the importance of doing their best academically and how that will benefit them in the future. The S.H.I.N.E. program will also provide field trips and guest speakers to expose students to new experiences that will help them be productive academically and socially.
Space that is physically and emotionally safe

Time for students to conduct emotionally "safe," comforting, challenging, nurturing conversations within ongoing relationships

Opportunities for students to develop relationships of trust and interdependence with other adults already present in their lives (such as friends, relatives, neighbors, church members)

Our program taps into the students’ strengths and identifies weaknesses where we help them build strength.

We provide mentors who share experiences that resonate with the realities of their lives and who exemplify survival and growth

Giving students a voice in program design, implementation, and evaluation. They will have a unique experience that meets them where they are. The program tackles issues like self-esteem, respect, peer pressure, social media, conflict resolution, personal hygiene, goal setting, and more.

Financial Literacy Program

One of our most popular projects is our Financial Literacy Program, designed to teach students about saving money, bank accounts, budgeting, as well as the meaning of financial terms and what it means to them. This is a 9-session course that will take place throughout the year, and the students will have a book/workbook along with activities to seal the knowledge in their minds.

At the end of the program in May, we have a catered lunch at the school and a certificate ceremony for our students.
