Money Matters! Financial Literacy has always been a part of the SHINE Mentoring Program, but in 2025 we took it to the next level.
Thanks to Meltrice Sharp, CPA, MBA we now offer a 9-session course designed to sharpen the mindset of students around money. Meltrice has been a consistent contributor to the SHINE Mentoring program since its inception. She created a workbook with activities and lessons about money, budgeting, saving, credit, and giving back to the community.
The students enjoy learning about money and also the activities like creating a budget and decorating their savings jars.
Miles Park Elementary is the first school where our students got the opportunity to take the deep dive into finance and they truly enjoyed it.
Finance for Young Leaders that S.H.I.N.E. is now a permanent staple in our mentoring program. We want our students to learn how to save, spend and share wisely!
